How are you all? It's 29th July, which means it's nearly August (WHAT?!) but this date means one thing... Happy National Lipstick Day! We love the stuff that much that we've created a national day for it!
Whether it's a ravishing red, neutral nude or a pretty pink, everyone has their favourite.
When I realised what day it was, it made me think back to some of the first lipsticks that I ever purchased when I was a teenager which were by Mac. Therefore, I have dedicated this blog post to some of my firm favourites from Mac.
Which have you tried from Mac? What is your 'go to' lipstick?
1. Brave - Mac
Pink-beige with white pearl (Satin)
A creamy Lipstick formula with a soft cushiony feel, medium-to-full buildable coverage and a satin finish. This will always be one of my favourite lipsticks and one that I constantly repurchase because it was my wedding lipstick. I wanted something that was girlie but not too pink so considering this was a mauve tone I decided that was the one for me. Although I had played with the idea of a red, I felt that my wedding dress had a lot of detail that was so stunning it would be a pity to draw the eye to a red lip so I settled for a more muted lip teamed with Mac Soar Lipliner.
2. Fanfare - Mac
Mid-tone yellow pink (Cremesheen)
A creamy, balmy Lipstick formula with a comforting feel, medium buildable coverage and a semi-glossy finish. This is a subtle gloss lipstick which is suitable for everyday wear. With the light coral tones, it is one of those lipsticks that you could throw into your handbag knowing that it will suit the office and the bar.
3. Velvet Teddy - Mac
Deep-tone beige (Matte)
A creamy rich Lipstick formula with high colour payoff in a no-shine matte finish.
This is a rosy brown lipstick with a full coverage pigment. Although the matte texture isn't for everyone, it goes on smoothly and is lovely and soft on the lips. It is the perfect neutral for a lot of skin tones and Mac have even brought out a mini size so it will fit in your bag no problem.
4. Creme Cup - Mac
Light blue pink (Cremesheen)
A creamy, balmy Lipstick formula with a comforting feel, medium build-able coverage and a semi-glossy finish. This is such a beautiful lipstick which features in my bridal kit. It is not a barbie pink but slightly deeper which is perfect for creating that blushing bride look once paired with the right tone of blusher.
5. New York Apple - Mac
Deep burgundy (Frost)
High Pearl, Medium Buildable Coverage, Semi-Lustrous Finish
This is without a doubt a must have in my personal makeup bag. Although I love a postbox red and a classical look, sometimes I fancy a darker red so that I can have slightly darker eyeshadow. I'm not talking a super gothy lipstick here though. The darker red creates a much more striking look. Although I appreciate this is not for everyone because the application needs to be seamless.
6. Yash - Mac
Deep neutral (Matte)
A creamy rich Lipstick formula with high colour payoff in a no-shine matte finish.
This is beautiful with a tan and for a night out if you want a neutral lip because your main focus is on eyes. I wear it with a slightly darker lipliner to create an ombre look.
Don't forget that a good lip scrub and moisturising your lips with some balm go hand in hand with a flawless lip application.
